About / Contango

Engineering the backbone of energy operations across Libya and beyond.

Contango is an integrated oil & gas service company built around four disciplines — operations, maintenance, rotating equipment and EPC — delivered by one accountable team for clients across the hydrocarbon value chain.

Since 2014
Independent oil & gas service company headquartered in Tripoli, Libya.
Who we are

A single accountable operating partner.

Contango exists to take the friction out of running complex assets. We combine the operating discipline of an oil major with the responsiveness of a local engineering house — embedded onsite, accountable to one manager, and measured on uptime and HSE.

From producing wellsites in the Sirte basin to compression stations and refinery turnarounds, our teams are wherever pressure, heat and rotating mass need to be kept in check.

We're certified to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 and API Q1 — and renewed every year by external auditors.

Our values

What every Contango job stands on.

Five principles that govern how we scope, mobilise, execute and hand back every asset we touch.

Safety first, always

Zero compromise on HSE. Every job starts and ends with a safety conversation, audited by an independent function.

Engineering rigor

Decisions are grounded in calculation, vibration data, integrity studies and code — not on what worked last time.

On time, on budget

Predictable delivery beats heroic recovery. We plan in detail and protect the critical path obsessively.

One team, one number

A single Contango manager owns the scope end-to-end. No subcontracting maze, no finger-pointing.

Operate with data

Condition monitoring, CMMS analytics and integrity dashboards inform every maintenance decision.

Local where it counts

Libyan engineers, Libyan supply chain. We invest in the people and partners closest to the asset.

Our journey

A decade of operating Libya's energy infrastructure.

From a small reliability practice to an integrated service company embedded across upstream, midstream and downstream sites.

2014 · Founded

Contango opens its doors in Tripoli.

Started as a four-person reliability and condition-monitoring practice serving Akakus and Mellitah field operators.

2022 · EPC capability

Brownfield EPC and pipeline fabrication brought in-house.

Acquired our welding shop, certified to ASME IX, and delivered our first compressor station EPC.

2026 · Today

An integrated regional operator.
